First trip to Japan, quite excited for the upcoming adventure. The flight from Stockholm to Helsinki went smoothly, then an almost 8 hour layover awaited us at Helsinki Airport before we embarked on the over 13 hour flight to Tokyo. The long flight went fine, lots of sleep and some movies.
Arriving at Narita International Airport was nothing special but the differences started showing immediately when it was turn to travel into Tokyo. The difference in liveliness is hard to describe. When we got to Shinjuku we dropped our bags at the APA Hotel. The room was very small, as I have heard the rooms often are on Tokyo. Hungry after the long travel we wandered to the nearest 7‑Eleven. The variety in products certainly was something, a lot better and cheaper than back home. I grabbed a salmon onigiri and special coca cola. This is a trip I have been looking forward to for a long time, so I'm very excited about the coming weeks.
Ready to take on the day we spent hours exploring Shinjuku. Getting used to the heat was exhausting and our savior came in the form of vending machines packed with different drinks and water. Every corner felt alive and busy, as well as stressful. By the time evening arrived we were exhausted and ready for some good rest. This is a trip I have been looking forward to for a long time, so I'm very excited about the coming weeks.
